Melanoma

Restoring skin health one patient at a time

Melanoma isn’t just skin cancer; it’s a condition of the body’s pigment cells. It is highly curable (over 99% survival rate) if caught in its earliest stage, but it can grow and spread quickly if ignored.

Where to look:

Check your entire body monthly, including “hidden” areas like the palms of your hands, soles of your feet, and under your nails—areas where melanoma is more common in individuals with darker skin.

Warning Signs (The ABCDEs):

Asymmetry: One half of the spot doesn’t match the other.

Border: Edges are blurred, notched, or ragged.

Color: The spot has multiple shades of tan, brown, black, or even red/blue.

Diameter: It’s larger than a pencil eraser (6mm).

Evolving: It is changing in size, shape, or color, or has started to itch or bleed.

If you have any questionable areas, the best idea is to call Restoration Dermatology for a checkup. We are here to help you through your lifelong skin health journey.
