Molluscum Contagiosum
Restoring skin health one patient at a time
Molluscum Contagiosum is a common viral rash that causes small, “pearly” bumps with a tiny dent in the middle.
How it Spreads: It moves easily through touch, shared towels, or even toys. Children often get bumps on their torso and limbs, while in adults, it is frequently seen as a sexually transmitted infection.
Prevention Tips: Keep the bumps covered with clothing or a waterproof bandage when around others. Avoid “autoinoculation”—spreading it to other parts of your own body—by not scratching, picking, or shaving near the spots.
Treatment: Most healthy people clear the virus on their own however, it is possible we can help it resolve more quickly. At-home prescription gels and quick in-office procedures like freezing or painless medicated applications are some of the best ways. Call Restoration Dermatology to schedule an appointment.
